At the beginning of each class, I lead students through mindfulness meditation. Part of this guided process includes settling the body and relaxing the mind. This promotes a sense of calm.
When the mind is calm, it can observe its thoughts. We look at our thoughts from a place of equanimity, awareness without attachment. Awareness without judgment. There is no good or bad, only what is. With a calm mind we can approach our lives with confidence and peace. Our Tai Chi practice is designed to allow the mind and body to pull away from daily life for an hour. We set aside our worries, center our thoughts, observe what our bodies are doing, and promote calm within movement.
When we translate this to the rest of our day, and throughout the week, we can remain unflappable in any circumstance. Remaining calm in any situation means our bodies do not produce stress hormones. This leads to a healthier and longer life. This is what Tai Chi does.
This week in Tai Chi we practice our forms. We have several forms to practice. The Yang Style 108, The Shui Lung, The Tai Chi Gung. Join us for some fun.
If you haven't attended a Tai Chi class, it's NO impact, fun and easy. At the end of class, you will realize that you've had a workout, it kinda sneaks up on you.
Most students with Fitbit announce that they have burned 200-400 calories per session.
